GoodWe ships six distinct hybrid inverter families covering single-phase and three-phase, low-voltage (48 V) and high-voltage (100–800 V) battery ports. Choosing the right series for a used EV pack starts with the pack's nominal voltage.
What GoodWe hybrid inverters do. GoodWe manufactures six hybrid inverter families: EH (single-phase HV, 3–8 kW), ET (three-phase HV, 5–30 kW), ES (single-phase LV 48 V, older 3–6 kW), EHB (single-phase HV standalone battery inverter, 100–500 V DC), BH/BT (AC-coupled retrofit battery inverter), and A-ES Split Phase (US market 120/240 V). Battery communication is CAN 500 kbps using a BYD Battery-Box-derived protocol (with LG Chem RESU frames as an alternate). Compatible EV packs range from Nissan Leaf 48 V LV re-configurations (ES series) to full-voltage Tesla Model 3/Y and VW MEB (EH, ET, EHB series).
Jiangsu GoodWe Power Supply Technology Co., Ltd. is a Chinese inverter manufacturer, in operation since 2010, headquartered in Suzhou. GoodWe products carry TÜV, IEC 62109 and G99 certifications. Battery communication documentation is provided by GoodWe as "Battery Communication Protocol V3.x" — a subset of BYD Battery-Box protocol with GoodWe extensions.

All HV GoodWe hybrids use CAN 2.0B at 500 kbps with the BYD Battery-Box HVM/HVS-derived frame set. ES-series LV models use a Pylontech frame set instead.

Heartbeat 1 Hz. Communication timeout 60 s. GoodWe displays "BAT COM LOSS" on the front panel when heartbeat is missed and opens the DC contactor after grace period.

ET for three-phase installations (5–30 kW range) or EH for single-phase homes up to 8 kW. Both accept Tesla's 315–403 V window; set charge target ≤440 V on EH to preserve headroom.
No. ES is a 48 V LV inverter. Only re-configured LV blocks (typical Leaf 24/30/40 kWh re-wired to 48 V) fit ES. Factory HV packs (Tesla, i3, MEB, E-GMP) belong on EH, ET or EHB.
No. The highest GoodWe DC ceiling is 600 V (ET series). Native 800 V packs exceed this at charge.
EH is a hybrid inverter with PV MPPT and battery in one unit. EHB is battery-only — no PV MPPT. Use EHB when you already have a PV inverter and want to add battery storage without replacing the PV inverter.
Yes. EH, ET, and A-ES support off-grid backup via an EPS output. Autonomous switchover ≤20 ms. Full off-grid (no grid at all) supported by ET with battery-driven grid-forming firmware.
BMS-EV emits a manufacturer/model string on CAN ID 0x105 that matches a whitelisted BYD Battery-Box model. Verify the string is accepted by observing the inverter portal show "BYD Battery-Box HVM" or similar under battery brand.
