Solis is the storage brand of Ginlong Technologies (Ningbo, China, founded 2005). The RHI, S5-EH and S6-EH families all support a DC-coupled battery over CAN, using one of three selectable protocols: Pylontech, BYD Battery-Box, or Solis' own Force H2 dialect.
Short version. Solis offers three relevant families for second-life EV batteries. RHI-3P(5–10)K-HVES-5G (three-phase, 5–10 kW, HV battery 180–500 V DC), S5-EH1P (3–6) K-L (single-phase, 3–6 kW, LV 48 V and HV variants) and S6-EH1P/S6-EH3P (5–15 kW, single- or three-phase, HV 120–500 V). All units accept the same CAN protocol menu — Pylontech, BYD, Force H2 — selected in the inverter's setup screen. BMS-EV emulates the chosen dialect; Force H2 is preferred because it carries the widest data set.

Force H2 is preferred. It has the widest data set (per-module SOH, cell max/min, alarm bitmap), the widest voltage window (90–500 V) and is the actively maintained dialect. BYD Battery-Box HVS is the fallback if Force H2 fails to establish; Pylontech is only useful for a low-voltage (48 V) build.
Yes — all RHI, S5-EH and S6-EH models include an internal ATS with a bypass port ("BACKUP") rated for 50–100 % of nominal AC power depending on model. Wire critical loads to the BACKUP port. Non-critical loads stay on the grid-tied port and go dark on outage.
SolisCloud reports pack SOC, voltage, current, temperature and alarm state — what the CAN protocol carries. Cell voltages are available on the BMS-EV controller's local web UI, not in SolisCloud.
No. All Solis hybrid inverters cap battery input at 500 V DC. For 800 V packs use Fronius Verto Plus, Sungrow SH-T, or a DC-DC converter to step 800 V down to the 400 V range.
No — Solis hybrid inverters accept a single battery cluster on the BAT port. To combine two packs, either run two inverters or physically parallel the packs at the DC bus (advanced — requires balancing between packs at the BMS level).
RHI-3P-HVES is the older 5G-series inverter (2020 launch, still current production). S6-EH3P is the 2023-onwards replacement with a wider PV MPPT window (three MPPTs instead of two), higher efficiency (98.5 % vs 97.6 %), and native Force H2 support from firmware. Prefer S6-EH3P on new installations.
The inverter expects a Force H2 heartbeat every 1 s. After 6 s of silence it stops charge or discharge, opens its internal DC contactor and displays fault code F16-01 ("battery communication timeout"). BMS-EV opens the pack contactor within 100 ms of losing the vehicle BMS heartbeat.
